How To Join

Congratulations! You’ve taken the first step to becoming part of a really great group of people!  Perhaps you are new to the idea of reenacting, or maybe you’ve “been there, done that” with other units or time periods.  We welcome people at both extremes—and everywhere in between.

If you have never been part of a reenactment group before, you probably have lots of questions—that great!!  We LOVE questions!  We’ve listed some of the ones we hear most often below, but if you have others, just drop us an email and we will be glad to answer them for you.  Hopefully you will decide that I/504 is the group for you, but we want you to be happy and have fun wherever you end up.  This is a hobby, after all!

Take a look at the questions below, then if you have more questions or want more information on joining this unique group of people, click on the email link below.  We look forward to hearing from you!!

How do I join? Drop us an email and we will send you an application. When your application is approved, you’re in!

What happens after I join? We’ll send you a membership packet, then walk you through every step of gathering the uniforms, equipment and knowledge you need.  It is our goal to get you involved as soon as possible, so you can start learning-- and having fun!

Do I have to buy all my stuff right away? Absolutely not!!  You have a year to put together your “basic” uniform and equipment (more on that list when you join).  Plus we usually have some “loaner” stuff kicking around to tide people over in some areas.

How long before I get to come out with the unit? That’s largely up to you!  Our guidelines make it easy to assemble enough stuff to turn out respectably and get involved very quickly.  In the meantime, you are welcome to attend unit functions in some capacity.  We want you to feel at home from the start.

Are there any dues, fees, etc?  Yes, but not much.  All members of I/504 must pay annual dues of $20.00 to be members of our parent organization, the MHPA (one of the best organizations around!).  This covers insurance for the unit and things like that.  There are no additional fees to be a member of our unit.
